Picture01gSo, here's a picture from the halloween party two weeks ago.  If you're wondering, I'm a gangster, that's my stogie, and that's my fedora.  The best part of the costume unfortunately is missing from the picture, which is a little plastic tommy gun that makes ratatat sounds when you pull its trigger.

Susan had a wonderful matching costume.  She went as a flapper.  She had a dress with frilly beads, an elegant cigarette holder, and a feather tucked into a headband.

Yes, I realize how fuzzy these pictures are.  I think it's about time for a real digital camera, don't you?

Okay, got up early this morning to vote for Sam Yoon.  Just to show how devoted I was, I went to bed early and missed the fourth quarter of the Patriots game last night to make sure I had enough time.  It looks like Sam is going to place third, which means that he'll be elected.  What a historic day for Boston!  There's a Korean American on the city council!

It was Matthew's birthday this weekend.  We got him two video games, two book, and a DVD.  We went to Legal Seafood for dinner, where he devoured a plate of mussels and a lobster.

Tuesday, November 8th are the elections for Mayor and Boston City Councillor.  There is a Korean American running for City Councillor at large named Sam Yoon.  Since he is running for Councillor at Large, anyone who lives in the city can vote for him.

One can check your polling location here:

Sam Yoon's website is here:

We have about 14 people coming to the Halloween Costume Ball next week.  I'm very much looking forward to it.  I think this is about the fourth or fifth year that I've gone.

So next weekend is Matthew's birthday.  I got him a game called "We love Katamari".  It's a sequel to the game I got him for Christmas.  In this game you're a little creature with a sticky magnetic ball.  Anything your ball touches gets stuck to it.  You start out rolling your ball around the floor, picking up hairballs and spare change.  As your ball gets bigger, so do the items that you can attract.  It's not long before you are rolling your ball around the neighborhood, terrorizing the local cats and dogs.  Then you get large enough to pick up people, and cars, bulldozers, buildings, and eventually oil tankers and baseball stadiums.  It's a cute game.  I'm not sure what the sequel entails, but it's probably a similar concept.

The weekend after that is Halloween.  Susan and I are going to a costume ball that Friday.  It's turned into quite the throng.  At this point we have about 14 people confirmed to go with us.  I was kind of surprised at the number of people who want to go, but Susan pointed out that most people don't have parties in the summer time, and so people are eager to socialize.  I'm going as a gangster, and Susan will be a flapper.

I'm also changing banks, again, this time to Citizen's Bank.

The law firm I work for has three partners: Packy, Mary, and Phyllis.  About a month ago, Packy went on vacation on the South Shore of Massachusetts.  While he was there, he had an accident body surfing.  The waves picked him up, flipped him over and he fell onto some rocks on the back of his neck.

For the past month, he has been in the hospital with serious complications.  Early this week, he passed away.  The office has been closed today and tomorrow to mourn his loss.  His death came as a great shock to me, as I guess I always assumed that it was just a matter of time until he got better.

The office is in great disarray and uncertainty.  I wish somehow that I could just have warned him before he went away on vacation that this was going to happen.  I've been feeling sick in the morning and under great stress.
